Egyptian president meets with the Iraqi rape victim of ISIS

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Saturday with Yazidi Iraqi woman Nadia Murad who was held in her homeland by ISIS  as a sex slave for three months.

Earlier this month, Murad, 21, made a speech to the United Nations Security Council in which she narrated her experience and called on international leaders to “get rid of ISIS completely.”

“During the meeting, Murad talked to President Al-Sisi about the brutal attacks performed by ISIS against the Yazids in Iraq,” a statement released by the Egyptian presidency said.

“For his part, President Al-Sisi condemned these attacks, saying that none of have a relation to Islam and vowing to support the people of Iraq,” the statement added.

Al-Sisi in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York last September underlined the importance of international coordination in fighting terrorism.
