Sisi orders continuous support for Egypt’s construction industry

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has ordered the continuous support to the national industrial sector, especially in the field of construction, presidency spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement after the president held a meeting with cabinet members.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Presidential Advisor for National and Strategic Projects Sherif Ismail, Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker, Trade Minister Niveen Gamea, Petroleum Minister Tarek El-Molla, and Finance Minister Mohamed Maait.

Al-Sisi said that the country’s comprehensive development plan, most notably the construction projects in new cities nationwide, offers “great” opportunities for factories that produce construction materials.

Al-Sisi instructed the ministers to explore regional cooperation prospects in housing and construction to allow the local industry to access “promising” regional markets in light of the cooperation ties with many neighbouring countries, which have high demand for construction materials, the statement said.

The meeting also reviewed the main challenges facing the heavy industries sector in Egypt and ways to overcome them, in addition to strengthening the export capabilities of factories and surmounting all related logistical and bureaucratic obstacles.
