Sisi orders government to present 5-year achievements report in October

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday directed the government to prepare a comprehensive report on the state’s actual achievements across all sectors over the past years and present it to citizens in October.

Sisi made the directives while delivering a speech at a ceremony marking the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The report will cover the efforts made, funds spent and results achieved, Sisi said, calling on the government, intellectuals, thinkers and specialists to discuss what has been implemented over the past years during an upcoming conference.

He called for government officials, thinkers, specialists and university professors to participate in the conference, which will address the projects implemented and challenges faced over a period of one week or 10 days, with discussions held with transparency and credibility.

Sisi said the conference would also provide an opportunity for the state and government to communicate with citizens and address issues concerning Egypt.

He added that he had asked the government to provide data on Egypt’s domestic and external debt and compare it with the subsidies provided by the state over the past 50 years.

Sisi also directed the government to ensure compliance with contracts related to real estate projects, prevent delays in delivering units and review contracts with real estate developers to ensure they fulfil their obligations to citizens.

He directed the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy to closely supervise electricity bills, avoid arbitrary estimates and facilitate the payment of outstanding amounts.

He also instructed the government and the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade to continuously regulate markets, expand government sales outlets and establish at least one government outlet in every district nationwide to provide essential goods at prices suited to different purchasing capacities.

Sisi further directed the Minister of Transport to complete all public transport projects within their set timeframes, improve road conditions and provide proper signage. He also instructed the Minister of Interior to conduct continuous traffic campaigns nationwide to enforce traffic discipline and take legal action against violations.

He reiterated directives to the Ministry of Local Development and governors to conduct field monitoring, establish direct communication channels with citizens, receive complaints and inquiries, facilitate services and work to resolve problems.

Sisi also stressed that all officials must enforce the rule of law firmly, saying there should be no place for corruption or favouritism towards anyone who tampers with citizens’ rights or the country’s resources.
