Spain’s coronavirus death toll surge for the first time in three days

Spain’s coronavirus death toll surged for the first time in three days, as some businesses are set to reopen under an easing of the country’s strict lockdown measures.

A total of 619 people died from the virus over the past 24 hours, according to health ministry data, bringing the total toll to 16,972.

Confirmed cases also surged on Sunday by around 2.6 percent to 166,019.
