Stocks in Egypt end week 1.89% lower

Egyptian stocks ended further lower on Thursday in thin trade following a three-day Eid al-Adha holidays.

Main index, EGX30 pushed down 1.89 percent, to 7979.25 points.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index also sank 1.14 percent, to 1350.93 points; EGX20 tumbled 1.54 percent, to 8002.17 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 dropped 0.49 percent, to 356.56 points. Price index, EGX100 were lower by 0.91 percent, to 808.63 points.

Market Cap

Market capitalisation incurred losses 5.2 Egyptian pounds ($585.5 million), to record 412.708 billion pounds during the closing session of Thursday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 125.376 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 591.778 million pounds, exchanged through 15,731 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 165 listed securities have been traded in, 97 declined, 20 advanced; while 46 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers capturing 24.2 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 52.579 million pounds, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local and Arab investors were net buyers controlling 69.04 and 6.76 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 3.541 million pounds and 49.038 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
