Stocks in Egypt shut 0.8% lower on Sunday

Egyptian stock market traded lower on Sunday on Arab investors’ selling pressures.

Main index, EGX30 tumbled 0.79 percent, to 7916.41 points.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index also fell 0.88 percent, to 1338.98 points; EGX20 dropped 1.06 percent, to 7917.18 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 went lower 1.44 percent, to 351.43 points. Price index, EGX100 plummeted 1.07 percent, to 799.95 points.

Market Cap

Market capitalisation incurred losses 2.3 Egyptian pounds ($259 million), to record 410.375 billion pounds during the closing session of Sunday.

Humble Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 98.572 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 593.457 million pounds, exchanged through 12,585 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 171 listed securities have been traded in, 92 declined, 25 advanced; while 53 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab investors were net sellers capturing 5.64 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 20.631 million pounds, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local and non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers controlling 87.56 and 6.8 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 2.665 million pounds and 17.966 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
