Suez Canal Attained $424.6 mln In December 2012

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has announced that its total income volume in December 2012 amounted to $ 424.6 million via passing 1399 ships at a weight of 76.989 tons in the north and south directions.

The monthly report of SCA has pointed out that Suez Canal received 724 ships in the south direction at a weight of 38.547 tons, while 675 ships headed to the north at a weight of 38.442 tons. Also the number of containers passed by Suez Canal reached 3 million ones.

The report referred to the biggest kinds of ships, like the oil tanker “MARAN CAPRICORN” at a weight of 102.276 tons, gas carrier ZARGA with 156.310 tons, steel tanker VKERKIS with 102.276 tons, and GHENA for goods with 40.771 tons and CMA CGMMARCO POLO with 162.670 tons, in addition to DLADYBUG at a weight of 75.405 tons.

The highest daily income reached $18.4 million, and the ships’ number is 58 ones, while the biggest net weight is 3.633 thousand tons.
