Supply ministry purchases 20,000 tonnes of rice to face Egypt’s deficit

Egyptian Ministry of Supply signed contracts of purchasing 20,000 tonnes of local rice recently to be injected into consumer complexes to face state’s deficit in supplying rice, minister Kahled Hanafy said.

Hanafy made these remarks during his meeting Monday with Chairmen of the Egyptian Holding Company for Food Industries, Egyptian Company for Wholesale Trade, Al Ahram for Consumer Complexes, Nile Company for Consumer Complexes, El Masreya Company for Wholesale Trade, Alexandria Company for Consumer Complexes.

The minister pointed out that General Authority For Supply Commodities (GASC) started procedures of importing around 80,000 tonnes of rice to be distributed in consumer complexes.
