Tarek Amer Likely To Head A Saudi Arabian Bank: Sources

One of the largest banks in Saudi Arabia is in talks with Tarek Amer, former chairman of National Bank of Egypt (NBE), to head the Saudi bank, sources at the Egyptian-Saudi Business Council said.

The bank currently negotiates with Amer over the monthly salary which may reach SR 2 million, in addition to offering him two cars and a villa.

Amer submitted his resignation last Monday a few days after Hisham Ramez was chosen to be the next Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt.

Amer was the deputy governor of CBE for five years from November 2003 to April 2008. He then joined NBE as chairman. Amer is also chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Banks and was nominated to be the chairman of Union of Arab Banks.
