Telecom Egypt gets 5G licence

Telecom Egypt received the licence to activate the 5G services on mobile phones, the Egyptian Cabinet said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed between the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and Telecom Egypt in the presence of the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The licence is worth $150 million and will be provided for 15 years.

The agreement is part of the government’s framework towards providing modern technology to institutions and individuals in Egypt.

The Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, said that the new agreement is set to help the government in achieving digital transformation in different sectors.
