Telecom Egypt, ITIDA team up to enhance home internet

Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Telecom Egypt company have signed number of deals on Thursday for the design and development of routers of ultra-high speed internet, as reported by the Cabinet.

The Minister of Communications stressed the need to work with the private sector to develop Egypt’s electronics industry, with the goal of adding value and positioning the country as a leading hub for electronics design and manufacturing in the region.

This initiative is aimed to boost the electronics industry in Egypt by promoting local manufacturing and reducing imports of electronic products. It is part of the presidential initiative Egypt Makes Electronics (EME).

The deal aims to meet the local and regional demand for the Telecom Egypt company by relying on local manufacturing.

Following a competitive selection process, El Sewedy Electrometer Egypt, Al Arabi, and the alliance of Bio Business and Hiteknofal Optics were chosen to implement the project.
