Telecom Egypt names Ahmed El Beheiry as new CEO

State-owned Telecom Egypt (TE), which has a monopoly on the country’s landlines, announced Tuesday that the board has chosen Ahmed El Beheiry as the new chief executive officer.

The government, which owns 80 percent of TE, replaced some of its representatives in the board on Tuesday, to include Mohamed Barakat, Amr Abdel Rasheed instead of Lubna Helal and Tamer Gad Allah. Maged Osman remained as chairman.

Ahmed El Beheiry enjoys distinguished technical experience in the telecommunications sector, as he previously worked in Orascom Telecom, Mobinil, which became now Orange Egypt), and ‎Asiacell Telecommunication.
