Telecom Egypt to Finalize New Cable Linking Africa with Europe by Nov

Eng. Atef Helmy, Egyptian Telecom Minister, has revealed that Telecom Egypt (ETAL) will finalize the installation of the new cable that will link between Africa and Europe within the next month.

 The Minister has informed Amwal Al Ghad that the next period will witness incentive measures to invest in submarine cable sectors as it will boost Egypt’s income, pointing out that the geographical location allows to maximize the returns on submarine cables and beneficiary services.

 TE announced previously that the future plan targeted to link many African countries with internet and telecommunication services, noting that it will launch a number of cables linking many African countries including Sudan, Djibouti, Madagascar and other countries through Seacom cable which is a submarine cable operator with a network of submarine and terrestrial high speed fibre-optic cable that serves the East and West coasts of Africa.

 The total income of TE from submarine cable services reached around EGP860million and it is expected to hit EGP1billion by the end of the current year.
