Telecom Egypt to launch mobile services before end of summer

Telecom Egypt, the state-owned landline monopoly,  is planning to launch mobile services before the end of summer, according to its chief executive/CEO Ahmed El Beheiry.

Telecom Egypt signed earlier on Thursday evening a five-year national roaming agreement with Etisalat Misr. According to the agreement, Telecom Egypt is to offer 2G and 3G services as well as international voice services via Etisalat Misr.

El Beheiry added that price offerings they reached with Etisalat Misr are more suitable than that offered by Orange Egypt. Telecom Egypt could enter into agreements with the three mobile companies; Vodafone Egypt, Etisalat Misr, and Orange Egypt or keep its contacts with Etisalat and Orange only.

|He stated further that the company will sign the final agreement with Etisalat Misr within 15 days.

Telecom Egypt signed earlier in August 2016 a deal to acquire the country’s first 4G mobile licence at a cost of 7.08 billion Egyptian pounds paving the way for it to become the fourth mobile provider in Egypt.
