Toyota stops shipping 10 models due to engine anomalies

Toyota Motor Corp. announced on Monday that it would suspend its global shipments of 10 vehicle models – including the Land Cruiser 300 and the Hilux – after irregularities were found in certification tests for diesel engines.

The investigation found that electronic control units used during horsepower output testing were different from those used during engine production, according to the statement.

“We have re-verified the mass-produced products manufactured at the plant and confirmed that the affected engines and vehicles meet engine performance output standards,” the company stated.

The company apologised to its customers who have been supporting affected vehicles and waiting for a long time, and also to all other stakeholders for the significant inconvenience and concern that this has caused.
