Toyota Tsusho to study feasibility of blue ammonia project in Egypt

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) and Toyota Tsusho Company signed an initial agreement to develop a feasibility study to produce blue ammonia project as a clean energy in Egypt.

The signing agreement came during the 27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) on Saturday.

The contract was signed by Magdy Galal, CEO of EGAS, Saad Helal, president of ECHEM, and Tokuji Koyama, general manager of energy infrastructure projects at Toyota.

In August, Minister of Petroleum, Tarek al-Molla has emphasised the importance of this study to explore the possibilities of producing blue ammonia within the petroleum sector of Egypt as one of the solutions to provide green and low carbon energy.

Earlier in September last year, Toyota Tsusho signed an agreement with state-run ECHEM and EGAS to conduct a joint study on future production of blue ammonia in Egypt.
