Trade between Algeria and Turkey, estimated now at 4 billion U.S. dollars, will hit 10 billion dollars in the near future, visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said here on Sunday.

“The extension of bilateral partnership to other sectors, such as maritime and air transport, would boost trade exchanges to hit 10 billion U.S. dollars in the near future,”Davutoglu told a joint press conference with his Algerian counterpart Mourad Medelci.

For his part, Medelci said Algeria and Turkey are working to boost their bilateral relations.

“We have expressed our will to reinforce and develop our bilateral relations,” Medelci said.”We are ambitious to extend them to other domains, including counterterrorism, national defense.”

Davutoglu arrived here on Sunday for a working visit to the North African nation. Algiers and Ankara signed a treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Good-neighbourliness in 2006.
