Türkiye’s inflation surpasses expectations in Jan. ’25

Türkiye’s inflation rate exceeded expectations in January 2025, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising by 42.12 per cent annually and 5.03 per cent monthly, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute data.

The 5.03 per cent monthly increase is consistent with the same rise in December 2024. Notably, transport saw the lowest annual increase at 23.14 per cent, while education recorded the highest at 99.93 per cent.

On a monthly basis, health saw the largest increase at 23.57 per cent, while clothing and footwear experienced a decline of 5.17 per cent. In total, 126 out of 143 basic categories in the CPI index saw an increase.

Core inflation rose by 42.08 per cent annually and 5.47 per cent monthly.
