Canal Sugar Co, a subsidiary of UAE-based Al Ghurair Group, is on track to sign three deals to establish a beat sugar mill in Minya producing 400,000 tons/year.
The first deal will be signed with Alkhorayef Group including three contracts the first would be for the cultivation of land, the second would be for a center pivot irrigation system through buying 1,000 pivots and the third would be for maintaining the irrigation system.
According to the company the second agreement will be signed with Sinoma International Engineering to construct the sugar mill and deliver it by January 2021.
This project will contribute to limit sugar deficit in Egypt by 75% with a production of about 750,000 tonnes per year, the company indicated.
Moreover, the third agreement will be signed with El Sewedy Electric to carry out electricity high pressure lines to feed the factory with electricity within 6-8 months.
The Emirati company highlighted that this is the first integrated industrial-agricultural project in the field of sugar in Egypt, which will help to secure 50% of factories’ need of beets, as well as reclaiming 1.5 million acres.
Industrial and agricultural products produced through this project, including exports, will amount to up to $100 million per year of secondary products.
