Upgrade’ Your Iphone 5 To Solid Gold – For ‘Just’ Dh131,000

The guy who sold us (actually, an Australian businesswoman) the world’s most expensive phone – the iPhone 4S Elite Gold for a cool Dh35.6 million (£6 million) – has now unveiled Apple’s latest smartphone in solid 22ct gold.

The price-tag this time: just £21,995 (Dh130,590), which is a steal compared with what he sold the last iteration of iPhone for. And considering that the phone is loaded with gold and diamonds, this pièce de résistance might not be such a bad investment either.

“This beautiful handset took weeks of detailed intricate work to re-create the original chasis of the iPhone in solid gold all of which was started and finished by hand, also a full gold dressing for the rear section with the logo in solid gold with 53 flawless diamonds amounting to 1ct,” Hughes says on his website [www.stuarthughes.com].

“This masterpiece boasts a massive circa of 128 grams of 18ct gold.

The result was outstanding even down to the precise polishing to reveal its most beautiful harmonious appearance. The handset is 64GB and is available as a ltd edition of only 100.”

Don’t fret, however, if you don’t have that kind of cash to splurge on what is, essentially, a device to make phone calls.

His company, Goldstriker International, has more affordable options of the iPhone 5 – in gold, of course. The firm offers the exclusive iPhone 5 fully embellished in 24ct gold for Dh16,000 (£2,695). It may not be made of solid gold and may not boast of diamonds, but this ‘affordable’ version looks second to none, the manufacturer promises.

“This stunning iPhone is uniquely crafted. Best quality crystal stones are added to its own mounted 24ct gold logo and home button. Like the diamond setting process, each stone is individually set into cut clasps adding seductive detail. The handset is 64GB and unlocked to all networks worldwide.”

Hughes has, of course, tried his hand at more than just Apple devices.

He offers the Nokia Supreme handset for £99,995 (approximately

Dh600,000) – pocket change, eh? Or you could go for the Bang & Olufsen Serenata Diamond Edition for £44,995 (Dh267,137).

Somehow, however, he makes good sales with Apple products. Last year, Hughes made global headlines when he crafted the iPad 2 Gold History Edition for £5 million (Dh30 million).

He does, for those so inclined, offer to add bling to just about anything – luxury cars, yachts, even homes, as well as furniture, aquariums, fashion accessories… you name it.

Of course, you’ve got to have a few millions lying around in small change to hire his services.
