US State Department official praises Egypt’s economic reform programme

An official source in the US Department of State has praised Egypt’s ongoing economic reforms and its ability to create an investment climate and an attractive working environment for investors.

These reforms can put Egypt among the most promising markets in terms of attracting foreign investment in the coming years, the source added.

The statements were made on the sidelines of the Door-Knocking delegation’s ongoing meetings, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, which aim to extend bridges of communication between the private sectors in both countries, and draw an accurate image of the current developments in Egypt on the level of economic reforms and the investment climate.

The delegation also explores possibilities for stronger future cooperation between the two countries after the recent important visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to Washington.

The source affirmed that the next phase will witness more strategic partnerships between Egypt and the U.S. in economic, military, and social fields, describing Egypt as the pivotal and most important country in the Middle East region.

The annual visit of this year’s Door-Knocking delegation comes in light of new changes that have governed the relationship between Cairo and Washington in its political and economic natures. President Sisi’s recent visit to the United States earlier in April paved the way for re-formulating the political and security cooperation between the two countries, the matter which was welcomed by President Trump to reshape relations and take Egypt as a key ally in the region.
