Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery sector recorded a trade surplus of $11.8 billion in the first eight months of 2024, marking a 68.4 per cent increase compared to the same period 2023, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
From January to August, agricultural exports reached $40.08 billion, an 18.6 per cent increase from 2023. Key export items include timber products valued at $10.24 billion (up 20.6 per cent), coffee at $4.03 billion (up 36.1 per cent), and rice at $3.85 billion (up 21.7 per cent).
The top export markets for Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery products are the United States, China, and Japan. Exports to the US increased by 23.5 per cent, accounting for 21.4 per cent of total agricultural exports.
China accounted for 20.4 per cent of exports, up 10.2 per cent, and Japan accounted for 6.7 per cent, up 4.6 per cent.
