Egypt’s New Valley Mineral Resources and Oil Shale Company (WADICO) inspected its phosphate production sites in the El Shaghab area of Edfu, Aswan Governorate. The inspection was part of efforts to monitor operations, assess performance, and ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards.
The inspection reviewed exploration and prospecting activities, drilling operations, and the various stages of phosphate production, including overburden removal, ore extraction, transportation, and crushing. It also covered the company’s main crusher, which operates using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) automated control system to enhance efficiency, product quality, and productivity.
Officials also reviewed workers’ compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, the quality of accommodation facilities, and the company’s green mining strategy, which focuses on sustainable operations, reducing environmental impact, and improving resource efficiency.
The officials praised the workforce for maintaining high technical, operational, and safety standards, saying their efforts support WADICO’s development plans and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to maximise the value of Egypt’s mineral resources.
