WHO: There are 102 potential coronavirus vaccines in the development worldwide

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Thursday 102 potential coronavirus vaccines are in development around the world, according to documents released on the Organisation’s website.

Eight of the potential vaccines are approved for clinical trials, up from seven vaccines four days ago, WHO added.

The Organisation said the additional group is from China. However, it is unclear if they have started trials on human study subjects – unlike the other seven who already started the experiments.

Of the groups approved for clinical trials on humans, four are from China, one is from England, one is American, and another is a combined American and European group, WHO said.

On March 16, the American National Institutes of Health (NIH) trial was the first to begin testing in human trial subjects.
