Egypt recorded 167 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, reporting a total infection tally of 94,483 since the outbreak in mid-February, the health ministry announced.

The ministry also reported 31 new deaths, bringing the total deaths from the virus to 4,865.

The statement said 1,318 patients have been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 42,455

Despite the recent lifting of lockdown measures, Egypt has been seeing a significant drop in its daily detected coronavirus cases, with the country’s daily record — 1,774 infections recorded on 19 June — unbroken to date.
