6.1M tourists visited Egypt during first ten months of FY2015/16- CBE

The number of tourists visited Egypt during the first ten months of fiscal year 2015-16 recorded 6.1 million, with 47.55 million spent-nights.

According to the latest report released by Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Saturday, the number of tourists who visited Egypt during April 2016 reached 425,000, with 2.4 million spent-nights.

The total number of European tourists came to Egypt in April 2016 hit 205,000 with spent-nights estimated at 1.1 million.

The report stated that tourists of Eastern Asian states followed the European ones with 118,000 tourists who spent 738,000 nights.

Egypt ranks 9th globally in phosphate reserves

Egypt has been ranked 9th globally in phosphate reserves, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The country has substantial phosphate reserves, estimated at approximately 1.3 billion tons.
Egypt’s phosphate reserves are concentrated in several key locations. The Abu Tartur Plateau in the Western Desert is home to one of the largest deposits in the region, renowned for its relatively high-quality phosphate. Along the Red Sea coast, significant reserves are found in the areas of Safaga, Quseir, and Hamrawein. Additionally, the Eastern Desert holds smaller but still important phosphate reserves, contributing to the country’s overall output.

Egypt approves €2m grant for preparatory technical support project

Egypt has enacted Presidential Decree No. 111 of 2024, approving the agreement for the Preparatory Technical Assistance for Sludge Management in Egypt project.

The project is funded by a €2 million grant from the European Investment Bank and is designated for the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities.

The agreement was signed on December 31, 2023, with the decree issued in accordance with Article 151 of the Constitution.

Egypt approves subscription to IFC capital increase

Egypt has endorsed its participation in the capital increase of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) by subscribing to 28,940 shares.

This decision was enacted through Presidential Decree No. 110 of 2024, issued in accordance with Article 151 of the Constitution and approved by the Council of Ministers. The decree specifies that the subscription will take effect upon ratification.
