Elsewedy Electric signs $45mln PV plant with S.Sudan
Elsewedy Electric Co, South Sudan’s Ministry of Energy and Dams signed a contract to build a $45 million hybrid photovoltaic project with a 35 megatwatt/hour battery storage system.
The project is planned to be located on 250,000 square metre land near Nesitu County, 20 kilometres from South Sudanese capital Juba.
The contract includes engineering, procurement, and installation of the project in turnkey-basis. The project is scheduled to be operational in 12 months.
The new plant is set to produce 29 million kilowatts/hour of clean energy that will supply energy to over 58,000 South Sudanese households, cutting 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
