Egypt receives 1,000 coronavirus detectors from China – minister

China has provided Egypt with 1,000 thermal detectors for coronavirus symptoms, Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed said on Monday.

The North African country has also received an updated version of the technical documents illustrating the precautionary measures taken to contain the flu-like virus spread, Zayed added at a press conference held at the Egyptian embassy in Beijing.

The Egyptian minister paid a visit to China on Sunday under the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, to show solidarity with the Chinese people against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The visit coincided with Sisi’s decision to mark a number of Egyptian landmarks in the colours of the Chinese flag in a humanitarian gesture of solidarity with the Chinese people.

Egypt is fully confident that China, as a super power, will defeat coronavirus at the earliest time possible, Zayed said.

The minster added that Egyptians would soon join their Chinese brethren in their celebrations for eradicating the coronavirus.
