CAPMAS: Building Licenses in Egypt Hike by 1.6%

Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that the number of building licenses has recorded a 6.1 % increase in 2011, reaching 69.6 thousands, compared to 65.6 thousands in 2010.

In a statement issued on Saturday to celebrate the World Housing Day, which is organized by the United Nations (UN) at the beginning of October of each year, CAPMAS stated that the total number of residential building licenses has amounted to 65.4 thousands during the previous year, compared to 61.9 thousands in 2010 with an increase of 5.6%.

It added that the number of non-residential building licenses hiked by 8.1%, recording 4.2 thousands in 2011, compared to 3.7 thousands in 2010. It further pointed out that the total number of apartments established by both the governmental and private sectors in urban areas reached 142.3 thousands.

The apartments established by the governmental sector amounted to 1.57 thousands; including 97.3 economic apartments, 2.6% average, and 1% luxurious.

While the number of housing units implemented by the private sector reached about 85.2 thousand housing units distributed over housing standards by 37.5% economic, 40.9% average, 11.4% above the average and 10.2% luxurious.

On the other hand, the apartments implemented by the private sector recorded about 85.2 thousands, including 37.5% economic apartments, 11.4% above average, and 10.2% luxurious.

100% of the residential and non-residential apartments in Egypt were provided by drinking water in FY 2011-2012.

The total length of newly-built roads reached nearly 5165 km, including 3580 paved roads and 1585 km dirt roads until the end of 2011.
