Egypt denies imposing full lockdown during Eid El-Fitr amid increasing new infections
The Egyptian Ministry of Health denied news about imposing a one-week full curfew to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) among continued rising in new coronavirus infections.
A statement attributed to the health minister Hala Zayed about imposing a full curfew from Tuesday, 19 May, until the third day of Eid El-Fitr, scheduled to be on 26 May, is completely fake and incorrect, spokesman of the health ministry Khaled Megahed said.
Megahed affirmed that the health ministry is not the concerned authority to take such decisions.
The number of COVID-19 infections reached 11,719 after the detection of 491 new cases on Saturday. The death toll amounted to 612 and the number of recoveries reached 2,950.
