Germany pledges $199 million new aid for internally displaced persons in Ukraine
Germany pledged to provide €200 million ($199 million) for Ukraine to help the internally displaced people, its Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze announced on Sunday.
Schulz added the aid’s main purpose is to ensure the Ukrainian displaced can continue to provide for themselves the most basic necessities.
There are around 7 million people that have internally displaced in Ukraine since the Russian military operation started in February, according to the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of waging an energy war and is planning a decisive blow for the winter.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyal has scheduled to visit Berlin on Sunday and will meet with Schulz and German Chancellor Olaf Schulz.
