IMF to consider Ukraine’s $1.3bn emergency funding request
The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) executive board will examine on Friday Ukraine’s request for an additional emergency funding about $1.3 billion amid the Russian war, according to two sources familiar with the matter said.
IMF staff are scheduled to meet with Ukrainian authorities in Vienna the week of October 17 to discuss Ukraine’s budget plans and monetary policies, one of the sources said.
If IMF approved the funds would come from a new emergency lending program to address food shortages approved by the board last week, but IMF’s spokesman did not replay yet.
