The Youth Employment in the Ports of the Mediterranean (YEP MED) project, funded under the European Union’s ENI CBC MED programme, has trained 60 young people in Damietta governorate Egypt, to bring the realities of the port sector close.
This project had organised in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Maritime Transport, and the Damietta Port Authority (DPA).
YEP MED gave 15 attendees an introduction to international trade operations as well as provided opportunities for teamwork practice on export operations, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Maritime Transport.
The same entities have organised a course in Port Logistics Community Training, which offers to both vocational students (15) and young people not in employment, education or training (30).
During the course, the participants received an introduction to international trade, the port logistics community, its main actors, ports’ legal framework and governance.
Moreover, there are practical workshops on freight forwarding and customs operations were also given to ensure that an all-encompassing view of port-logistics life was given.
