NASA captures star on verge of death

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) released on Tuesday new pictures of a star on the verge of death in unprecedented detail, which captured by Webb Space Telescope.

“Massive stars race through their lifecycles, and only some of them go through a brief Wolf-Rayet phase before going supernova,” NASA is quoted to state.

Macarena Garcia Marin, a European Space Agency scientist participating in the project expressed her awe to the Associated Press: “We’ve never seen it like that before. It’s really exciting.”

The star named WR 124 was captured for the first time by the telescope in June 2022. It is located 15,000 light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius.

Commenting on the released picture, NASA said it “preserves forever a brief, turbulent time of transformation, and promises future discoveries that will reveal the long-shrouded mysteries of cosmic dust.”
