Planet Labs to acquire Slovenian startup Sinergise

Planet Labs PBC, a global satellite imagery and geospatial solutions corporation said on Wednesday that it has signed a deal to acquire Sinergise Labs, a Slovenian startup known for making Earth-observation data accessible through cloud-based APIs.

Under the agreement, Planet aims to continue to expand into new vertical markets by reducing the complexity of analysis and insights extraction, according to the statement.

Sinergise’s platform capabilities is expected to enable customers to more easily extract insights from various sources of satellite data and partners to build their own applications on top of Planet’s platform to gain additional value from EO data.

It is worth mentioning that the transaction is expected to close during Q2 of Planet’s current fiscal year and is subject to certain closing conditions, the statement further explained.
