China, Australia resume trade talks after three-year gap

China and Australia have agreed to resume high-level economic and trade dialogue mechanisms next week, following three-years hiatus, a further step towards the stability between the two countries, Asharq Business reported on Saturday.

The high-level dialogue will be held in Beijing next Thursday as it considered to be a platform which includes industry and government representatives to discuss several issues, said Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop.

Li Zhaoxing, who served as the Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China will co-chair the Chinese delegation in the event, while the former Australian Minister of Trade Craig Anthony Emerson will lead his country’s delegation.

Zhaoxing said that this is the first time to hold the meeting since 2020, which represents another step towards increasing bilateral engagement and stabilising the relationship with China.
