Meta to lay off employees in metaverse silicon unit

Meta is set to lay off employees in the metaverse silicon unit on Wednesday, informed sources told Reuters on Tuesday.

The unit is part of the company’s metaverse-oriented Reality Labs division which works on creating custom silicon.

Meta informed its employees of the layoffs in a post on the company’s internal discussion forum Workplace.

According to the post, employees will be notified about their status by early Wednesday morning.
