Egypt has reportedly witnessed an increased in hydroelectric production by 5.5 percent in fiscal year 2022-2023, an official report showed on Monday.
Power generated at the facilities owned by the state-controlled Hydro Plants Generation Company (HPGC) rose to around 15,458 megawatts (MW) last year.
It went up from nearly 14,646 MW in 2021-2022, HPGC said in a report published by an Egyptian local newspaper.
The company also said it targeted an output of 13,926 MW in 2022-2023, but has achieved 111 percent of that target.
“The increase was mainly due to measures taken by the Company, including expansions, maintenance and rehabilitation of some plants,” the company said.
