The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced on Monday it will pause food aid to Yemen and Syria, AP reported.
The General Food Distributions (GFD) in Yemen is under the Sana’a Based Authorities’ (SBA) control.
According to the WFP, it is driven by “limited funding” along with the absence of an agreement on a smaller programme to match available resources to the neediest families.
It also said that they were working towards an agreement to reduce the number of people served from 9.5 million to 6.5 million.
However, the failure to do so along with the ongoing crisis in the world, the WFP will have to shift the focus to other areas.
Yemen has been in war for eight years while Syria for 13 years.
Yemen is also the poorest Arab nation with 17 million civilians denied food provision.
