EU: Egypt makes ‘great success’ towards higher women representation at decision-making levels

Egypt has made “a great success” in the terms of women representation at levels of decision-making, said Ambassador Christian Berger, Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt, said on Sunday.

Speaking at the third edition of the Egyptian Women’s Summit, Ambassador Berger further said the EU had seen “a lot of progress” in empowering women of Egypt over the past few years.

The EU sees gender equality as core value of the European Union and women empowerment as a significant priority for its partnership with Egypt, he added.

To keep fostering gender equality is “inevitable” to ensure equal participation of women, the EU ambassador noted.

There is still need to keep promoting women participation and providing decent work opportunities for young female generations, while supporting women in male-dominated businesses, Berger further said.
