The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has asked most insurance companies to provide personal accident insurance policy for police personnel, said Hisham Abdel Shakour, Managing Director of Egyptian Takaful Company (Life).
The Interior Ministry and local insurance companies are still in talks to determine the final form of the policy that will cover police officers against total and partial disability in a first-of-its-kind move by the Ministry to provide police officers with insurance coverage, he added.
Abdel Shakour revealed that the Egyptian Takaful Company (Life) has submitted its offer to the Interior Ministry asking to add coverage against death to the policy.
Misr Insurance Company has also submitted its offer to provide the Interior Ministry with personal accident insurance policy covering policemen, said Hosni Mushref, head of general insurance sector at the company, noting that the Ministry has insurance fund for its personnel.
Negotiations with the Ministry have been faltered several times because its leaders have been changed in close time intervals, he continued.
