The United Kingdom (UK) will establish a new publicly owned power company, Great British Energy, headquartered in Scotland, as part of the UK government’s commitment to a “clean energy transition,” King Charles III announced at the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday.
This initiative aims to lower energy bills over time by accelerating investment in renewable energy.
The King also highlighted forthcoming legislation aimed at achieving energy independence, including support for sustainable aviation fuel production.
Additionally, he emphasised the importance of improving water quality, noting that new legislation will strengthen the powers of the water regulator.
