India unveils largest wind energy project to power 3m homes

India has launched its largest wind energy project to date, set to power 3 million households, according to a report by Asian News International (ANI).

The 1,166 megawatt (MW) project, a collaboration between NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Suzlon Group, will see the installation of 370 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW each across three sites in Gujarat.

This project marks the first of its kind major wind energy initiative undertaken by a public sector unit (PSU) and is expected to substantially boost India’s wind energy capacity, aligning with the country’s clean energy goals.
