BOJ governor hints at rate hike if inflation accelerates

Bank of Japan (BOJ) may raise interest rates if trend inflation accelerates as projected, its governor Kazuo Ueda stated on Tuesday, emphasising that any decision would not follow a pre-set schedule.

Speaking to business leaders in Osaka, Ueda highlighted that while inflation trends could justify a rate hike, the BOJ will take a cautious approach, closely monitoring both domestic and global economic developments before adjusting monetary policy.
