IMF reaffirms commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s recovery
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reiterated its support for Sri Lanka’s economic development and reform efforts, following the recent election of Anura Kumara Dissanayake as the country’s new president.
In a letter addressed to President Dissanayake, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva expressed confidence in his leadership and the nation’s ability to achieve a future of stability, prosperity, and inclusive growth.
Georgieva highlighted the IMF’s eagerness to work closely with the new president to build upon the progress made in recovering from Sri Lanka’s worst economic crises.
“I look forward to deepening the mutually beneficial relationship between the IMF and Sri Lanka and wish you every success in your endeavors,” Georgieva stated in the letter dated September 24.
