Japanese consumer confidence index rises 0.2% in Sep. ’24

Japanese consumer confidence index (CCI) rose 0.2 points to 36.9 in September 2024, marking a slight improvement from the previous month, according to seasonally adjusted data by the Cabinet Office on Wednesday.

The categories within the index reflect changes in consumers’ outlook on various aspects of economic conditions:

Overall livelihood: The index dipped slightly to 34.4, down 0.3 points from the previous month.

Income growth: The perception of income growth improved, with the index rising by 0.4 points to 40.1.

Employment: Optimism in the labour market rose, as the employment index increased by 0.8 points, reaching 42.2, reflecting a better outlook for job availability.
