Eurozone construction output drops in September ’24
Construction production in the euro area and the European Union declined by 0.1 per cent in September 2024 compared to the previous month, according to first estimates of the EU statistical office, Eurostat on Wednesday.
While the EU saw a slight increase of 0.2 per cent in August, both regions experienced a year-over-year decrease of 1.6 per cent and 2.0 per cent, respectively.
Breaking down the sectoral performance, building construction fell by 0.8 per cent in the euro area and 0.9 per cent in the EU. Conversely, civil engineering saw a 1.4 per cent increase in the euro area and a 0.6 per cent rise in the EU. Specialized construction activities decreased by 0.4 per cent in both regions.
The EU experienced similar trends, with a 0.9 per cent fall in building construction and a 0.6 per cent rise in civil engineering.
