Malaysia and Turkmenistan leaders affirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in the oil and gas industry, during a bilateral meeting on Thursday.
The cooperation is expected to be long-term and mutually beneficial, as stated in a statement by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the end of the latter’s first official visit to Malaysia.
“Recognising a shared vision, the two leaders emphasised the significance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, and noted (Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas firm) Petronas’ positive, long-lasting experience in this field,” the statement said.
Both leaders are dedicated to working together and coordinating through different international cooperative platforms, such as the United Nations, the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other international organisation frameworks.
