Gold prices edge up amid tariff concerns

Gold prices slightly increased on Wednesday due to growing worries about US President Donald Trump’s tariff proposals and tensions in the Middle East, leading to heightened interest in the safe-haven asset.

As of 12:42 GMT, spot gold rose 0.19 per cent to $3,039.98 per ounce, surpassing its previous close of $3,034.13. Meanwhile, US gold futures advanced 0.23 per cent to $3,047.79 per ounce, up from Tuesday’s closing price of $3,040.8.
