Egypt’s Sisi, Eritrea’s FM discuss Horn of Africa stability
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on Sunday to discuss key developments in the Horn of Africa and strategies to enhance regional stability.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties and advancing the trilateral coordination mechanism with Somalia. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Somalia in its fight against terrorism and ensuring its territorial integrity.
Discussions also covered ongoing efforts to restore peace in Sudan and safeguard security in the Red Sea. President El-Sisi and Minister Saleh emphasised the importance of reinforcing governance and security measures among Red Sea littoral states, firmly rejecting any external interference from non-coastal nations in the region’s affairs.
The talks underscored Egypt and Eritrea’s shared vision for a more stable and secure Horn of Africa, highlighting their continued cooperation on critical regional issues.
